My second movie review is about Makoto Shinkai’s 5 centimeters per second/Byosoku Go Senchimetoru 😀 I’m into anime films recently hehe
I actually watched this twice (Yes twice hehe :>> Cheer up baby ,Cheer up baby.Kbye) Ayun, I watched it twice because nung una, hindi ko siya natapos and di ako nakapgfocus ng bongga because I have other things to do (Busy ko po eh haha) Then the following day, I watched it na and nagexpect ako ng happy ending but I got something better than what I expected 😀
Episode 1:Cherry Blossom
The story revolves around Takaki Tono starting from his childhood up until he grew up. The moment that the film started all I can say is – it’s so AESTHETIC!!! The introduction was really beautiful too , ang poetic ng dating sakin hehe. So with the introduction, it was stated that 5 centimeters per second is the speed in which cherry blossoms fall.
Eventually, nagkahiwalay sila since Akari transferred residence and school as well.They connect to each other through handwritten letters/mails since nung time na yun di pa gaano uso email. Time came and Tohno’s family will move to Kagoshima, it’s far away from Tokyo and they’ll be separated farther naaa :< Kaya they decided to meet again because who knows if they’ll be ever see each other again?
Dumating na yung day na magkikita sila. They promised to meet at 7 pm,at the nearest station to where Akari lives. It wasn’t easy for Takaki because it seems like fate was hindering him to meet her on time kasi beshie, ang dami talagang struggles as in :<< Yung feeling na parang tadhana na gumagawa ng way para di sila magkita but those things didn’t stop Takaki from going. Mas strong siya kesa sa tadhana na yan eh HAHA he managed to travel up to Tochigi where they promised to meet

and he met Akari T__T <3
The following morning, Takaki needs to leave and go back to Tokyo. They bid their goodbyes but he never mentioned that he lost the letter that he wanted to give to her and on the other hand, Akari didn’t give her letter to Takaki. They didn’t tell each other how they really felt and parted ways after that :<<<<
Episode 2:Cosmonaut
This part tells about the life of Tohno Takaki when he transferred schools and he met Sumida Kanae.Well, Sumida fell for Takaki and sadly, it’s a one-sided type of love </3 She falls for him everyday despite of the fact that it feels sad for her. Sino ba naman masaya sa one-sided love diba?? Everytime, she’ll see that Tohno writes a message on his phone and she somehow wishes that the letter that he’s writing is addressed to her.
Just like me, Sumida doesn’t have any plans for the future just yet. She’s still searching for it and I really think planning for the future is quite hard. I’m also still confused on what path should I take. But for now, Sumida plans on doing surfing again. It’s her goal as of now and she’s really working hard on it. She plans to take things one at a time.
On another note, Tohno’s Pov showed that he had the habit of writing something but there’s no recipient. He was writing what he had dreamt about and yet he deletes it (doesn’t save it) . In my case, I think those things happen when we’re unconsciously longing for something/someone we write what we feel and what we experience because we’re still waiting for that day wherein they’ll get to read those. It’s just in my opinion because I also write/create letters but I never send them to anyone haha, I just keep them instead.
After 6 months, Sumida got to ride the waves again!! With that, she told herself that she needs to confess to Tohno. She promised herself that she’ll confess when she got to ride the waves again so today is the dayyyyy. Sabi nga sa isang quote “If not now, when?” SO AYERN NA NGAAAAAA Sabay na naman sila umuwi and they dropped by a convenience store, nung paalis na sila ng store, Sumida’s motorbike was acting up so Tohno suggested that they must leave the bike and have someone to pick it up later. At dahil gentleman nga si Tohno, he suggested that they should walk to Sumida’s house. Sumida told him that it’s okay for her to go on her own but Tohno told her that he’s in the mood to walk so they left and walked on the way home.
Naglakad na sila pauwi and ang awkward lang nung silence. I thought she’s gonna confess na kasi ya know, sa mga drama yun na yung perfect moment but then… she suddenly cried because of all the feelings that she’s feeling inside and Tohno asked what’s wrong . At the back of her mind, she asked Tohno not to be so nice to her.
Pero nasira yung moment kasi yung rocket naglaunch na and ayun, yung attention nila napunta dun :< They continued walking and she realized lots of things including the fact that Tohno wasn’t really looking at her.
In the end, she wasn’t able to confess to him and kept all her feelings inside her. She understands that Tohno is looking and yearning for something which is not her </3 She chose to stay as his friend even though she knows that she’ll just continue on falling for him :<<
Episode 3:5 centimeters per second
“I strongly felt that if I looked back now, she would look back as well”
Fast forward and they’re adults na, Tohno moved to Tokyo to work but he feels that his heart has withered and all that’s left was pain so he decided to quit his job. He was searching for something that he doesn’t know. He was yearning for it. On the other hand, Akari is going to Tokyo too but she’s already engaged to be married.
Moving with their separate lives and separate paths, they dreamt of each other. They dreamt about the past, when they were 13 and they the last time that they met. They remembered about their wish to see the cherry blossoms together again. Hoping that one day it’ll finally come true.

Yun na yung ending T_T But then may epiloque pa. In this movie, I really liked the epilogue too. Pinakita dun what happened during their school days when they(Akari and Takaki) were writing letters to each other pa but eventually, they lost contact. Sumida also felt sad when Tohno left and went to Tokyo. When Takaki was in Tokyo, he’s alone and sad , at times he remembers Akari and continues to yearn for her. Meanwhile, Akari is already happy with her life and her fiance.
At the end, fate made a way and their paths crossed again. At the railroad crossing wherein Akari told him that 5 centimeters per second is the speed wherein cherry blossoms fall. They both looked back but then, a train passed so he didn’t get to see if it’s really Akari. He waited but after the train has passed, the girl is already gone. He took a step back and left .
Pinagtagpo pero hindi itinadhana </3 Grabe sa feels yung ending , even though they aren’t made for each other, at one point in time they felt that their feelings were really sincere. What they had was true. Fate na yung gumawa ng paraan just for them to keep the promise na makita yung cherry blossoms together. At that railroad crossing, they got to see it and separate ways as well.
Minsan kasi may mga taong hindi talga mags-stay forever in our lives. They are meant to pass by in our lives and make us feel loved. May mga taong makakamove-on din meron din namang ike-keep ka pa rin inside their hearts. Akari might have loved him but then, she met someone na alam niyang mas minahal niya. But I still think na kahit papano importante pa rin sa kanya si Takaki as he was once a person that she loved.
Si Takaki naman, he continued to love Akari for a long time that he didn’t considered that maybe Akari found someone other than him (Pero I can’t speak for him kasi malay mo naman naisip niya na baka wala na siyang chance or wala ng chance na magkita ulit sila diba?!?!?) . He was hoping that someday they’ll meet again and hindi niya napansin na may taong nagmamahal sa kanya sa paligid niya which is si Sumida.
But love is never fair naman diba? I mean, we can’t always expect that we’re going to receive the same amount of love that we gave. You’re lucky enough if the love that you gave is well reciprocated but if not? I guess all that we can do is continue loving rather than giving hate <3
Let’s just learn to wait and one day , everything will fall into it’s place.
(pero wag din puro wait ha, Alam mo na si Takaki masyadong nagwait wala naman palang hinihintay haha char lang XD)
I love how the ending goes because Takaki smiled and left. It feels like there’s still more for him and it doesn’t end with him having a broken heart. I feel like he’ll be better and he’ll be happy too.
So I hope that whoever reads this will watch the movie (Or have watched the movie already) and in whatever situation you are in, always think that this is not the end and there’s still more for us in the future :))))) Fighting~
